Oceanic has launched the O.i Wrist, a new colour-screen dive computer with GPS, multi-gas capability and optional wireless air integration.
The O.i – short for Oceanic Intelligence – has a 2.4-inch, full-colour TFT display with colour-coded information and layouts that change according to the stage of the dive.
Rather than the menu button system typically used by dive computers, the O.i’s menus and dive screens are operated using Oceanic’s new ‘NavDial’, a wheel and button combination that can be scrolled in either direction to cycle through the menus and pressed to make a selection, or long-pressed to return to the previous screen.
The NavDial’s orientation can be reversed to suit both left- or right-handed divers and which wrist they prefer to wear their computers on.
The computer is rated to a depth of 100m, and uses the Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression algorithm with customisable Gradient Factors for adjustable levels of conservatism.
Up to three gas mixes are supported, with audible and haptic alarms notifying the diver once a mixture suitable for a particular phase in the dive becomes available.
Nitrox mixtures containing between 22 and 100 per cent oxygen are supported, with separate maximum operating depth (MOD) and partial-pressure (PPO2) calculations for each gas.

The O.i Wrist supports up to three optional Oceanic wireless transmitters and diplays cylinder pressure, real-time air consumption and gas time remaing. It can detect a change of cylinder and prompt the diver to confirm the gas switch, while visual and haptic alerts provide warnings including low-gas notifications.
Other dive functions include a three-axis, tilt-compensated digital compass, dive planner, gauge mode, automatic altitude adjustment and personalised no-fly tracking. Built-in GPS records the surface entry and exit positions for each dive.
The computer wirelessly integrates with the Oceanic+ iPhone app and web app for Mac, Windows and Android, enabling divers to synchronise logs, change settings, plan dives and install firmware updates.
A new ‘digital dive slate’ also allows users to create custom reference screens in the Oceanic+ app and transfer them to the computer for use as dive plans, navigation notes, instructor cues, procedures, equipment settings or other information that a diver might need to check up on while underwater.
The sealed rechargeable battery using induction charging from a bespoke charging dock, and provides a claimed 20 hours of continuous dive use. Oceanic says the computer can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes under normal conditions.
The O.i is supplied with an adjustable silicone wrist strap, bungee mounting system, induction charger and protective EVA case, and will be available worldwide from mid November.
