Body of missing North Wales diver found

North Wales Police has announced that the body of a diver who went missing around the Llyn Peninsula on 28 November has been found, just over a week after he disappeared.

The missing man has been formally identified as 53-year-old Imrich Magyar from the Warrington area, whose body was found in the Llangwndal area of Pwllheli on Saturday, 7 December.

Mr Magyar had last been seen off Porth Ysgaden, approximately 3 miles northwest along the Llyn Peninsula coastline. Police issued an appeal to the public for information after his car was found in a nearby car park.

A statement issued by the North Wales Police states that there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A member of Mr Magyar’s family thanked the police, coastguard and RNLI, and any members of the public involved the search to find him.

‘The family are very grateful for all the efforts made and for people who came out in their own time to help,’ said the family spokesperson. ‘Thank you to the police and coroner’s office for their continued support and consideration to the family. Thank you all.’

Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Gibson said: ‘Our deepest condolences remain with Imrich family and friends, who have requested their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

‘I would like to thank the community for their support during the searches.’
