North Wales Police have issued a press release asking anybody who might have seen a missing diver in North Wales to get in contact.
The 53-year-old man named ‘Imrich’, who is believed to be from the Warrington area, is thought to have been the subject of a report concerning the safety of a diver off Porth Ysgaden, situated on the northern coast of the Llyn Peninsula.
HM Coastguard received an initial report at 1.15 pm on Thursday, 28 November, before contacting the police shortly after 3 pm.
A multi-agency search was launched but was unable to locate the missing diver.
According to the police statement, a silver Ford Mondeo Titanium belonging to Imrich was located in a car park close to Porth Ysgaden, and found to contain his personal belongings.
Specialist land and sea searches are ongoing to help locate the missing diver.
Chief Inspector Stephen Pawson said: ‘We are keeping all lines of enquiry open and are appealing to anyone who might have seen Imrich to get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity.
‘I am particularly interested in identifying a van driver who spoke to a Coastguard member in the area of the cove yesterday, who I believe could have information that could assist with our enquiries.
‘Anyone who was in the area of Porth Ysgaden on Wednesday, November 27 or Thursday, November 28 and hasn’t already been in touch is asked to make contact with us.
‘You can contact us by calling 101, or via our website, quoting reference number Q179229.’
