Todd Thimios is an expedition guide for high-end clientele who specialises in technical diving and underwater filming. Originally from the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Todd’s underwater photography has taken him around the world and seen him live and work in many remote destinations.
A Dive Master since 16 years of age (Instructor by 20), he has also been trained and employed to pilot submersibles down to 1,000 metres while working on private superyachts. In recent years, he has also had the unique job of being flown ahead by clients to photograph dive destinations, then offer a presentation of photos and videos before designing an itinerary for the yacht’s captain to set course toward.
When not leading underwater expeditions, he’s at home in his art studio or in the vegetable garden with his baby daughter.
Perhaps Todd’s most notable project is his ‘Light of the Arctic’ body of work (of Orcas in the Arctic), the culmination of five years of returning to the same location. His favourite dive destination? Lord Howe Island, Australia, where he lived and worked as a Dive Master.
