Warm water. Exceptional visibility. World-class wrecks. Vibrant reefs – and a commitment to safety that lets you relax and enjoy every dive.
For divers seeking a destination that combines stunning underwater scenery with easy travel, comfortable conditions and professional dive operations, the British Virgin Islands continue to rank among the Caribbean’s premier diving locations.
Nestled in the northeastern Caribbean, the BVI offers a remarkable combination of protected reefs, historic shipwrecks, dramatic underwater topography and year-round warm water that appeals to everyone from newly certified divers to experienced underwater explorers.
At the heart of this paradise is Dive BVI, a professional dive operation that has spent five decades helping visitors experience the very best of the islands in a safe, enjoyable and memorable way.

A diver’s paradise in warm Caribbean waters
Imagine stepping aboard a comfortable dive vessel beneath bright tropical skies and heading towards crystal-clear waters where visibility often exceeds 18m (60ft) and can reach 30m (100ft) or more in ideal conditions.
Water temperatures typically range from around 26°C (78°F) in winter to 29°C (84°F) in summer, making lengthy dives comfortable throughout the year.
The dive sites are protected from ocean swells by surrounding reefs and islands, creating calm conditions for greater comfort, more days on the water, and access to an extraordinary variety of marine environments.
There are direct flights from Miami to BVI as well as connections from Antigua and St Martin/Sint Maarten.
Whether you are discovering scuba for the first time or logging your thousandth dive, the BVI offers experiences for every level.
The legendary RMS Rhone

No discussion of diving in the British Virgin Islands would be complete without mentioning the RMS Rhone, widely regarded as one of the finest wreck dives in the Caribbean.
The Royal Mail Steam Packet vessel sank during a hurricane in 1867 and now rests in three sections on the seabed near Salt Island.
Over more than a century, the wreck has become a thriving artificial reef covered in corals, sponges and schools of tropical fish. Divers can explore the massive iron structures and swim through the wreck’s open sections, with Dive BVI’s experienced guides on hand to bring its history to life and ensure safe diving appropriate to each diver’s certification and experience.
Reefs bursting with life

The islands are home to healthy reefs showcasing the Caribbean at its best, filled with colourful hard and soft corals, giant barrel sponges, sea fans and abundant marine life.
Angelfish, parrotfish, barracuda and southern stingrays are regularly encountered; hawksbill and green turtles are common visitors, while nurse sharks and eagle rays occasionally make an appearance.
The variety of sites means no two dives feel the same. One morning might be spent drifting alongside a reef wall alive with schooling fish, while the afternoon could involve exploring coral pinnacles, swim-throughs and underwater canyons.

Photographers appreciate the combination of clear water, vibrant colours and diverse subjects, from tiny reef creatures to sweeping reefscapes and historic wrecks.
Safety comes first
An unforgettable dive experience begins with confidence in the operation leading the adventure. At Dive BVI, safety has been a guiding principle since the company was founded in 1975.

Professional instructors conduct thorough briefings before every dive, equipment is maintained to high standards and boats carry essential safety gear and emergency communications.
Dive sites are selected based on environmental conditions and diver experience levels, creating enjoyable dives while minimising risk.
For newer divers, patient instruction and supportive guidance help build confidence underwater. Divers returning to the sport after a break can take advantage of refresher programmes, and experienced divers will benefit from knowledgeable local guides who know the islands’ reefs, wrecks and marine life intimately.
Families also appreciate the warm, calm waters and professional supervision available for younger divers beginning their underwater journey.
More than just diving
Beyond the diving, the British Virgin Islands are famous for white-sand beaches, welcoming island culture, excellent dining and world-renowned sailing.

Non-diving family members can enjoy snorkelling, paddleboarding, boating excursions, beach exploration and island hopping while divers spend time underwater.
Short boat rides between many dive sites also mean less travel time and more time enjoying the water.
