Wrecks4All 2.0 – the next phase of a project bringing the wrecks of the Adriatic Sea to public attention and promoting them through tourism, has recently wrapped up a conference themed ‘The Future of the Adriatic Past,’ in Montenegro’s capital city Kotor.

The event, hosted by the Laboratory for Maritime Archaeology (LabMa) of the University of Montenegro, showcased groundbreaking projects on underwater cultural heritage and sustainable tourism development across the Adriatic.

Leaders in underwater archaeology and heritage management from across the Adriatic region congregated in Kotor to share their insights and initiatives. The conference, which kicks off of the Wrecks4All 2.0 project, co-financed under the IPA South Adriatic program, witnessed a vibrant exchange of ideas and strategies.

Highlights from the recent conference were presented in two videos encapsulating the essence and achievements of the event, and showcasing some of the projects that are revolutionising the research and protection methodologies for the Adriatic’s underwater heritage.

The videos include presentations on the collaborative efforts between heritage and tourism professionals, archaeologists and local communities, including talks by representatives of UNESCO and the UNESCO Network for Underwater Archaeology.
