A scuba diving instructor and his assistant have been arrested following the death of a British scuba diver in Greece.
The 25-year-old man, who has not been named, was diving off the popular resort of Vouliagmeni, south of Athens, on the morning of Saturday, 23 November when he lost consciousness underwater.
Emergency services were called to the scene but were unable to resuscitate him and he was declared dead on arrival at the local hospital.
The deceased diver’s 46-year-old dive instructor and his 37-year-old assistant were arrested over his death.
The dive equipment used during the dive has been confiscated by the local Port Authority, however, no information as to the reason behind the arrest has been given.
A post-mortem to determine the cause of death has been scheduled to take place at the Forensic and Toxicology Laboratory of the Greek School of Medicine.Â
