Huish Outdoors has issued a recall notice for its Hollis 200LX second-stage regulators, after reports that some of the regulators’ components were prone to failure.
In a statement published on the Hollis website, a Huish Outdoors representative writes that all units purchased between 2 May 2017 and 15 May 2025 may be affected.
The company notes none of the regulators have been reported as failing while in use underwater, but could pose a drowning hazard were they to do so.
Huish Outdoors has received reports of internal components within certain Hollis 200LX second stage regulators separating or fracturing before or after a dive.
Our investigation indicates that some units may exhibit reduced impact resistance, particularly if the second stage is dropped or struck on the adjustable inhalation knob. In these cases, damage to the inlet tube assembly could render the second stage non-functional.
While no incidents have been reported during an active dive, this condition could pose a drowning hazard if it were to occur in use. As a precaution, we are issuing this Stop Use notice while we complete our technical review and prepare a corrective remedy.
Part numbers and descriptions of the affected regulators:
- Part no. 240.2010.07.M – 200LX + DCX YOKE
- Part no. 240.2011.07.M – 200LX + DCX DIN
- Part no. 240.2000.LX – 200LX 2ND STAGE BLK
In the event that somebody finds they have purchased one of the affected regulators, they should not dive with the affected regulator, nor attempt to repair or modify the product, and remove it from service.
Dealers and distributors are being asked to stop selling and shipping existing regulators, quarantine any existing inventory, and contact their customers.
Huish Outdoors is currently finalising production of replacement parts and a standard retrofit procedure for authorised technicians, and will issue a follow-up notice once everything is in place.
Anybody with questions about the notice is advised to contact the manufacturer directly at recalls@hollis.com.
