Experienced commercial, tech and CCR diver Ants Stern reviews the Northern Diver Odyssey full face mask
I’ve dived with a few different full-face masks over the years — from Interspiro to OTS and Ocean Reef — but the Northern Diver Odyssey stands out as the best-fitting and most comfortable of the lot.
Full-face masks are becoming more popular among sport divers, and after using the Odyssey, I can see why.
Low profile, comfortable fit
The first thing I noticed about the mask was its low-profile design. It feels streamlined in the water, with minimal drag, and the soft silicone skirt seals perfectly.
No leaks, no bubbling, just a really secure and comfortable fit — even in cold water.

Clear vision and easy breathing
The Odyssey’s wide-angle view is excellent and completely fog-free. Breathing feels natural thanks to the low-volume oral-nasal cavity, and I’ve experienced no CO₂ build-up.
The pre-dive/dive Venturi lever is intuitive and makes adjusting airflow simple. Knowing the Odyssey is EN250 certified also gives me real confidence in its performance and safety.
Strong, reliable build
The Odyssey feels solid. The stainless-steel breathing tubes and reinforced polycarbonate lens give it a reassuring strength, and everything about it feels built to last.
At the same time, it’s ergonomic and comfortable enough to wear for extended dives.

Versatile and future-ready
One of my favourite features is the side block. It adds real versatility to the mask, giving divers a wide range of options for different setups and dive environments.
On top of that, Northern Diver is continually expanding the range of add-ons. I’m particularly excited about the wireless Low Air Warning System (LAWS), plus the accessory options such as the torch mount and welding shield. It’s great to know the mask can evolve with my diving needs.
Final thoughts
For me, the Odyssey is more than just another full-face mask – it’s a big step forward. It combines comfort, strength, and adaptability in a way I haven’t seen before.
Whether you’re a sport diver curious about FFMs or someone looking for professional-grade performance in a versatile package, the Odyssey delivers. It’s a mask that inspires confidence and raises the bar for full-face mask diving.
