Mia Stawinski is a Dutch and Polish award-winning underwater and topside wildlife conservation photographer and filmmaker. She is also a Sony ambassador. She has been passionate about our planet, wildlife and photography for as long as she can remember.
Mia supports the work of non-profit organisations globally by spreading their mission and inspiring collective action in protecting the natural world. Her images put the beauty of nature, its power, and its fragility, in front of as many eyes as possible. She further extends these efforts by leading conservation photography expeditions. Ultimately, her goal is to foster a greater appreciation for our planet, encourage outdoor exploration and drive real conservation impact.
Mia began diving to explore the underwater world, to see firsthand our impact on the ocean and to learn more about how we can help. After her first few dives in 2020, she realized the importance of capturing stories beneath the waves and invested in her first underwater housing. She is now an Advanced Open Water PADI diver and continues to expand her diving knowledge as she pursues her ocean conservation efforts. Her favourite dive destination is the Maldives
Her work has been awarded and recognized by the prestigious National Geographic, ND Awards, Int’l Photography Awards (IPA) and Monovisions Photo Awards.
She currently shoots with the Sony A7III in a Nauticam Housing. Her go-to underwater wide-angle lens is the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Lens. Sony has supported Mia by providing her the necessary gear to capture her vision while working on her conservation projects.
