Check out the winning, highly commended and best of the other featured images from our Big Shot Caves, Caverns & Overhangs underwater photography competition!
Some of the most stunning environments we find underwater are when we go that step further and venture into caves and caverns – even overhangs can have a lot to offer.
These submerged other worlds are magical, strange places where either shafts of light from above or those we provide with the use of artificial light, illuminate rarely-seen, glorious vistas.
The entries in this issue’s Big Shot take us beyond the looking glass. The winning image by Martin Broen captures the grandeur and stunning beauty of the Yucatán cenotes. He wins a seven-night trip aboard the Thailand Aggressor, courtesy of Aggressor Adventures, worth US$3,490.
Highly commended are Catherine Holme’s tarpons hunting in a Grand Cayman overhang and Tom St George’s lone diver descending in a shaft of sunlight. They both receive a year’s print and digital subscription to DIVE. The other entries published in DIVE win a year’s digital subscription. And many thanks to everyone who entered.
Up next is all that is bright and beautiful. Stun us with colourful, joyous shots of life underwater. Anything from jewel-like nudibranchs to walls of vibrant soft corals. Let your imagination rip and the colours explode. Enter on our website before 5 August, 2024 to win an Aggressor Adventures liveaboard trip.
