Important update 1pm BST, Wednesday 13 April – the CDWS has announced that the ‘pilot’ registration programme in the article below has been suspended and visitors will be allowed to enter as normal.

Egypt’s Chamber of Diving and Watersports (CDWS) has issued an advisory asking travellers to the country to register at least two days before departure. Failure to do so may increase waiting time at the travellers port of entry.

The statement reads:

In light of updating the precautionary measures at Egyptian airports, we would like to share with you the Egyptian official website for registering the incoming travellers during the global corona outbreak.

To ensure the safety of all travellers, the Egyptian Ministry of Health mandates that all incoming travellers must register at the official website, at least two days before starting their trip. Please note that failure to complete all registration steps in time may lead to the inability to review documents before arrival, and would increase the waiting time and to get the QR code for entering Egypt in order to facilitate their travel procedures.

The website – which was rather slow when checked – asks visitors to complete the required information, upload the Covid-19 PCR test and vaccination certificates (PCR tests are not required for fully-vaccinated UK travellers), after which the documents will be reviewed and a personal QR code generated.

The QR code can then be shown at the airport prior to departure, and to the Egyptian Quarantine Authorities after arrival, which will ‘allow you to pass without waiting in long lines or any other procedures.’
