My name is Ayub Mooduto, but people call me Yubzukamoto or short, just ‘Yubz’. I am from South Bolaang Mongondow, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Most people may know Manado, Bunaken and Lembeh Strait, which is not far from where I’m from, right in the centre of the Coral triangle.
I got into photography in 2010 as a hobby and love to capture moments and experiment with the camera. Then in 2013, I began scuba diving, which quickly became my passion. With some of the world’s best dive spots on my doorstep, it’s so easy to fall in love with the ocean. Of course, I wanted to share the amazing underwater world I discovered with my friends and with my compact camera started to capture photos and videos driven by ‘see the beauty through my lens’. Underwater Photography became a part of my life,
People say I have a unique, recognisable style, Underwater photography is for me, to showcase the beauty of creation, what I can find in our beloved ocean, beneath the surface. Whether it’s capturing the smallest hidden things using macro, or fast colourful landscapes, pelagics and bigger things with wide-angle lens.
I really enjoy diving at my local spots where the marine life is so rich and diverse. I hope to show, and bring more people, to my region ‘Beautiful Bolsel’. I hope that my photos would raise awareness about our oceans, that people would start thinking more ecologically and take better care of our seas and our blue planet.
