The Caribbean island of Saint Lucia is a picture-perfect, scuba diving paradise, with plenty to see and do – both above and below the surface
Behold the breathtaking beauty of Saint Lucia, where undulating valleys, soaring mountains, lush rainforests, and soft sand beaches are framed by the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
From the Piton peaks to the ocean deep, this picture-perfect paradise is a scuba diving paradise and adventurer’s playground, with a world of exhilarating experiences just waiting to be had.
Beneath the iridescent waves, scuba divers will discover a seascape as enthralling as the verdant landscape above. Teeming with schools of tropical fish and captivating marine life, the lenses of your dive mask will reveal a kaleidoscope of colour as you swim and sway your way through a vivid scene of shipwrecks and drift dives.
Whether you are a well-seasoned enthusiast, or taking the plunge for the first time, both beginners and experienced divers have an array of diving opportunities to choose from, plus dive schools and guided scuba tour groups ensure that you make the very most of any underwater exploration.
A magical site to behold!
Choose from 22 world-class dive sites, including the dramatic Piton Wall dropping down to hundreds of feet below, and the fascinating Turtle Point, where you can come face to face, or rather face-to-flipper with sea turtles. And it’s not just turtles that can be found here, but also a stunning variety of coral and sea fauna, sergeant majors, parrot fish, seahorses, octopus, moray eels – and plenty more.
For those travelling with non-divers, or simply wanting to stay closer to the shore, shallow coral gardens such as Anse Chastanet Reef are a great spot for snorkelling, and exciting SNUBA programmes are also available in some locations around the island.
The glorious coastline also provides a picturesque backdrop for all kinds of other watersports, such as kayaking, windsurfing, and catamaran cruises, or even the Splash Island Water Park, a giant floating obstacle course designed to create hours of endless fun for all.
Dive into life on land
Back on land, travellers can fully immerse themselves in Saint Lucia’s unique topography while embarking on the thrill of ziplining through the trees, jungle biking through the rainforest, bathing in a mineral mud bath, or hiking the verdant terrain of Pigeon Island.
Spend those tranquil days surrounded by the lavish comforts of a five-star resort or opt for something off the beaten track with the island’s Collection de Pépites, made up of local villas, B&Bs, boutiques, and inns.
Saint Lucia’s fantastic array of accommodations ensure there is something to suit all requirements and budgets, with great value options for those focused on their time in the sea rather than in a suite.
With a week full of boat and shore dives, PADI courses, and photographic competitions, ‘Dive Fest Saint Lucia’ will take place between the 14 – 21 of September 2024 and it is a calendar highlight not to be missed by any underwater enthusiast.
