The Shark Trust’s ‘Oceanic 31‘ art exhibition is coming to a close and most of the works on display are now up for auction.

The collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures and digital media by a group of artists passionate about sharks, rays and their conservation has been on an exhibition tour since its inception in June 2023.

Now, 27 of the 31 artworks form part of a silent auction lasting until 7 December 2024.

Starting prices vary from £50 for one of the smaller acrylic paintings to £2,000 for Abigail Burt’s bronze plaque featuring a fever of longhorned pygmy devil rays.

Money raised from the auction will support the Shark Trust Oceanics Programme.

Oceanic 31 will be heading to the Royal Geographical Society in London, where it will be open to the public from 26 November until the end of the auction on 7 December, with the Shark Trust’s ‘For the Love of Sharks’ event at the RGS on 29 November – tickets for which are still available from the charity’s website.

The exhibition is also viewable online for those unable to visit in person.

One of the pieces will be auctioned live at For the Love of Sharks by Steve Backshall, who will also be the headline speaker at the event. Two other pieces of art will be raffled for attendees.

‘This exhibition has given us the opportunity to reach out to a new audience and inspire more people with the wonderful sharks and rays on which our Big Shark Pledge campaign is based,’ said Paul Cox, Shark Trust CEO ‘We are immensely grateful to the 31 artists who have worked so hard to create these works.’
