Seiko released its first dedicated scuba diving watch in 1965, and in recent years has collaborated with PADI to produce a special edition of its Prospex collection of diving timepieces.

An updated version of the Prospex PADI Special Edition is due to be released for 2021, nicknamed the ‘Sumo’ by brand aficionados due to its size and shape and the design of the 12 o’clock marker.

The timepieces will be available as both a traditional diver’s watch and as a chronograph, featuring sapphire glass; screw-down crown and screw-case back; unidirectional rotating bezel and stainless steel band. The movement of the watch version is mechanical with a 70-hour power reserve; the movement of the chronograph is quartz solar.

Both timepieces are depth-rated to 200m.
