PADI is launching a limited edition Andy Casagrande ‘Great White Wonder’ certification card for courses to mark Plastic Free July. The new cards will be available in both e-Card and recycled plastic versions.
A run of just 1,500 will be available, and PADI will donate US $10 from every card purchase to the PADI AWARE Foundation, the training agency’s publicly-funded not-for-profit offshoot organisation which supports ocean conservation and marine animal protection.
The card depicts the moment that the Emmy award-winning cinematographer and wildlife conservationist came face-to-face with a great white shark as it approached for a close inspection off Guadalupe Island, Mexico.
Using ‘innovative and unorthodox camera techniques’ to capture his images, Casagrande says that he tries to ‘reframe the way the world sees and perceives wildlife.’
‘I love sharks more than anything and I will never stop fighting to protect them and change people’s perspectives about them,’ said Casagrande.
