The Dive Photo Guide has just announced that entries are now being accepted for its DPG Masters Underwater Imaging Competition 2025.
The long-established contest celebrates the splendour of the oceans and the challenging art of underwater photography and videography by calling underwater shooters of all levels, from novice to professional, to compete in what some have dubbed the ‘World Championship’ of international underwater imaging events.
The prizes, worth more than $85,000 in total, include dive trips with the world’s top resorts and liveaboards, and the latest underwater photo and video gear.
Entrants will compete this year for prizes in ten categories: Unrestricted, Traditional, Macro, Wide Angle, Over-Under, Conservation, Portfolio, Compact, Cold Water, and Short Film.
The photographer or filmmaker behind the top entry among the category winners will be crowned DPG Grand Master 2025 and will receive a top trip prize and a top equipment prize.
Winning also comes with recognition as one of the world’s best underwater photographers, with their work expected to be visible in dive, travel and photography magazines across the world.
This year’s judging panel includes experts Nicolas Remy, Jennifer Hayes, Álvaro Herrero (Mekan), Jill Heinerth, Aaron Wong, and Kate Jonker, each of whom will offer a ‘mentor prize’ to one of the winners, consisting of an hour-long one-to-one video lesson.
This year, 15 per cent of all entry proceeds will be donated to marine conservation charities.
‘This year, DPG Masters is the biggest it’s ever been!’ said organisers Joe Tepper and Ian Bongso-Seldrup in a statement. ‘The total prize pool is the largest we’ve had, with awesome dive trips and imaging equipment up for grabs.
‘Our record ten categories give amateurs and pros alike an opportunity to win, no matter their particular speciality or camera system.
‘We can’t wait to find out who will be this year’s DPG Grand Master!’
Entries will be accepted until 1 December 2025. Entry fees are US$10 per image, and 15 per cent of all proceeds will be donated to marine conservation charities.
