A scuba diving instructor from Hengchun, Taiwan has been jailed after recording a female customer showering at the dive centre for which he worked.
Pintung District Court was told that the instructor, Wu Kuang-Liang, filmed the woman in the shower at his dive centre in March this year, according to a report in the Taipei Times.
After he was spotted by the woman, who screamed, Wu removed the memory card from his camera, snapped it into pieces and swallowed it.
The pieces of the broken SD card were seized by local police after the defendant later visited the bathroom.
Wu admitted he had filmed the woman and was subsequently fired by his employer.
The sentencing judge noted that the instructor had caused the woman ’caused the woman emotional distress and trauma,’ and Wu was sentenced to four months imprisonment under Taipei’s laws governing sexual privacy.
The offence carries a maximum sentence of three years, but Mr Wu was allowed to pay a fine to reduce his prison time.
Hengchung is a popular diving area located to the southern end of the island of Taiwan, approximately 250km north of the Philippine island of Luzon.
