Croatian freediver, Boris Milošić, has set a new record – pending official verification by the Guinness Book of World Records – for the longest underwater walk in one breath, setting a distance of 112 metres in just under five minutes.

‘It is five minutes of moving underwater,’ said Milošić. ‘ That’s not the same as just holding your breath below the surface!’

Milošić, who had previously held the record of 96m, set in Split, Croatia in March 2022, beat the current world record of 107m set by fellow Croatian Vitomir Maričić in March 2022.

During his 2020 record attempt, Milošić had actually broken the 100m barrier, but due to technicalities over the rules, his official record was cut by four metres.

Multiple-championship medal-winning freediver Milošić set the record at Kaštela Marina pool in Split, Croatia, on 30 June.  He had recently won gold medals in the Apnea Games World Cup held in Athens in April, with distances of 263m in the Dynamic Apnea with Fins (DYN) and Dynamic Apnea without Fins (DNF) categories.

Milošić also set the first AIDA world record in the Dynamic Apnea with Bifins (DYNB) category, swimming a distance of 234m in Belgrade in 2019.
